Mazda’s MPV minivan is the smallest minivan available on the market. Discontinued in 2007 and replaced by the even-smaller Mazda5, the MPV offered families a smaller minivan with more standard options than most other minivans offered. Case in point, rear heat and a third seat that stows flat into the floor in seconds made this van a favourite with prospective buyers. The compact size of the Mazda MPV van made it easy to park, drive, and control. The Mazda MPV comes with a 3.0L DOHC V6 engine, the same one that currently powers the Mazda 6 sedan. Mazda’s MPV is available in DX, LX, and SE trim levels, each offering a unique level of equipment, starting with the aforementioned rear heat and stowaway third seat, as well as power windows, locks, mirrors and more. LX models offered rear air conditioning and side airbags as options, as well as alloy wheels, TV/DVD and more. The “sportier” SE model was available with leather seating, upgraded audio system, and TV/DVD. The MPV offered drivers a more agile and engaging drive, even though they were still driving a minivan. But a responsive yet efficient engine coupled with sportier driving manners than most minivans offered, the Mazda MPV became a favourite with young families that weren’t ready to be full-fledged minivan owners.
